Ozogoche and Atillo lakes (2 days)

The Atillo (3500m) and Ozogoche(4000m) lakes are located in southern Chimborazo province and are different sizes and colors. Tradition has it that birds came to the Ozogoche Lake in September to commit suicide. An indigenous festival occurs every September in remember of this event. A visit to these lakes requires some acclimatization.

Day 1: (4 to 6 hours)

At 07:00 we leave Riobamba by car and drive 3 hours to Ozogoche. We then hike five hours to reach the Atillo lake

Day 2: (4 to 6 hours)

An easy 5 hour hike takes us up and down the Padre Urco mountain (4100m). We then travel by car to Macas or return to Riobamba.
